Canadian opera comes to CBC radio | Entertainment …
After an absence of almost 20 years, the Canadian Opera Company is returning to the Canadian airwaves.
The COC announced yesterday it has reached an agreement with the artists of the company, as well as with the various unions and associations involved, that will enable it to produce all seven of the operas that comprise their current season, for airing on CBC Radio 2 and Radio-Canada’s Espace Music.
What’s more, those broadcasts will also be available on both the COC website, coc.ca, and on CBC Concerts on Demand.
The COC’s Madama Butterfly is slated to air on CBC Radio 2’s Saturday Afternoon at the Opera on Nov. 28, while the critically acclaimed production of The Nightingale and Other Short Fables will air Dec. 5.
