Software windows

So, I just recently reinstalled my computer and I am using windows vista 64bit. Whenever I download all the “important” updates and restart my computer it is unable to fully load, I get a blue screen of death, and it just goes in a continuous restart loop. If I use the repair function on my install cd it fixes the problem (and tells me that an update file was preventing startup). So I kind of want to have the updates, or at least most of them, on my computer. Anyone have any ideas what I could try or which update it may be? Thanks.

alright, so what I did was I installed the updates then i ran one of the registry fixers then restarted my computer. It didn’t seem to work and I had to repair windows again using the windows vista install disk. It is still giving me the error that “windows was unable to start because of an update” or something like that. Any other ideas? thanks
